You know you’ve matured when you no longer chase people who are inconsistent, when you no longer cling to relationships or friendships, when you’re no longer anxious about any small interaction or pending conversation. Healthy detachment and knowing your worth can do wonders for your overall life.

You can’t possibly ignore everything in the world of the sake of your peace of mind because humans tend to be affected by what happens around them. In a world that moves so fast and constantly feeds you information, it is perfectly fine to turn off the news and watch some wholesome instead.

It is possible though, to care less about things you cannot control. There will always be people you can’t agree with, people who won’t change their minds, and certain events will happen even when you don’t want them to. That’s when it becomes important to know what you can and cannot control, how you can change things around you and which things you should leave behind and try not to fixate on.

You can’t save everyone. But you can start by saving yourself, helping those around you, caring for the small environment you live in, making life more bearable for yourself and others by knowing what is within your reach to change and what you need to let go of. It is okay not to control everything, to not be able to save everyone, to save the whole world. You can still act upon what is closest to you and make a positive change and find some peace of mind.

Personal reminder that might be of use to someone out there: I can allow myself to be loved, to feel loved, to have a support system, to rely on people. I am not a stranger in a stranger’s land. I am among friends. Let love come, let love grow, let this love be shown to you. And accept it because you know you deserve it.
